Wer die Wahl hat, hat die Qual...

Gah... so regional elections are coming up and it's the first time I get to vote here (EU parliament aside but I still voted as a German then).

So I'm taking it seriously eventhough I know I'm just 1 voter and I won't change anything. I did the voting guide stemwijzer.nl and I got the party called "Links Appèl" as the one that matched my ideals the most. It's a party which mostly wants to focus on giving equal rights (not just on paper but in practice) to all people who live in The Hague, which basicly means mostly focusing on "immigrants". Whereas I'm not an "immigrant" as such I still seem to agree with many of their points. On the one hand I have the urge to vote for a big democrat party like PvdA just to counteract the huge rise in right winged parties... but on the other hand I'm thinking why not give a smaller party a chance for a couple of seats? They have good ideas and from what I've seen on their website they know the sources for problems and want to tackle them right there. The lijsttrekker (their leader guy) seems nice and he's a business guy so he should know his way around economic issues and is not a farmer like with most leftish party leaders. Also it's just city council elections... so wheras it will define the life around me, it will not define my rights or the national laws and imoprtant stuff like that.

So I'm torn what to vote for. Hmmm well I still have 1 week to decide... lol

Revenge!!!

timmertje

Yay, so remember Marianne Timmer who was disqualified from the 500m race (see last post). Well she got her revenge today. She won the Olympic Gold Medal in the 1000m Speed skating!!! Yayness!!! :D

Also Germany is leading in the overal medal ranking, with most medals before the USA and Russia... isn't that awesome!?! Go Germany.

Also we are gonna get all kinds of goodness from the Canadian Team Clothes Website... meaning by the time the 4 hats and scarves and shirts arrive it will probably be too hot to waer them. But there'll always be next winter.. haha :D

Awwww

Awww!Poor Marianne Timmer. She was the Dutch hope for the women's 500m Speed Skating in Torino yesterday but she was disqualified for twitching her knee at the start. (>-_-)> HUG <(-_-<) It's kinda sucky because the first false start was caused by the miniscule swaying of the Korean contestant next to her which brought both of them totally out of focus since it wasn't really a false start to begin with. And then Marianne Timmer gets disqualified for trembling... I mean, it's not like either of them took off to early or anything... That stupid Starter shooter person... grrrr. Now Marianne REALLY has to win gold at the 1000m so she can smile again... <(^__^)>

Germany is 3rd in the medal rankings with 7 medals: 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. We. So. Rule. (Well the US and Russia are still in front of us but those two both have like 100x as many inhabitants so we still rule. :P )

Other news in the world include a liscence to kill for 7 Dollars, the Bird Flu in Germany and a 3rd World War over a distasteful caricature. Not really worth to get into those... heh.

the first 2 gold medals of 2006 Olympics go to Germany

yuppie

How cool is that!!! We of course watched both the Nordic Combo and the Men's Biathlon and it was so exciting until the very last minutes!!!

The Opening Ceremony Last night was alright. The most exciting thing was still the "secret Guest" who'd sing "Imagine" right after Joko Ono herself had done a speech about peace and that "secret Guest" being a quite old looking Pert Gabriel with a sock on his head. The Fireworks in the end were cool and as an Olympics lover at heart the lighting of the flame still brought tears to my eyes. And I have to say Luciano Pavaroti singing Puccini's "Nessun Dorma" was quite impressive as well, seeing how he does not perform anymore usually and I like that aria. So yeah.

Afterwards we watched some more Buffy Eps and we had to stop at around 2 a.m. right after Tara got shot and Willows eyes go first black and then blood red o_O; so tonight it will be uber Willow stripping that Warren geek of his skin... alive... fun night.

right now, Skating is on and it's all or nothing for the dutch men... so I gotta go and root of them now :D :D :D

I'm for Germany, Netherlands and Japan, but also in general for anyone who loves the sport for the sport and not because they're being pushed into it (*hint* Mr. Davis *hint*)

Some more artwork

hug

I drew this by mouse on an Oekaki Board [ Paint BBS ]. Kinda just felt like painting something cute and I wanted to paint the same way I would if I was painting with acrylics on canvas... so I started with a black background and worked it from there :D

Chinese Birth Horoscope Thing

What I entered:
Time Zone: 1 city Longitude: 12.23 Gender : Female
Birth Year: 1981 Month: 7 Day: 30 Hour: 17 Minute: 55

What I got:
The following is your birth chart. You are Brown Chicken, born in the year of White Chicken. The first character in DAY represents you. So you are equivalent to Soil.

Chart:
Hour (kids): Female Water & Black Chicken
Day (you): Female Soil & Brown Chicken
Month (parents): Female Wood & Green Sheep
Year (ancestor): Female Metal & White Chicken

Explanation:
Your birth chart was generated using the Chinese Stem-Branch Calendar system. The Stems, upper row in the chart, are Five Elements which are Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth. The Branches, lower row in the chart, are 12 animal names which are related to Five Elements. The following Five Elements distribution chart is produced from your birth chart.

Another Chart:
Soil (you): 96
Metal (kids): 225
Water (money): 30
Wood (job): 24
Fire (mom): 9

Another Explanation:
Here we select an element from the Five Element chart as your Lucky Element. The Chinese Yin-Yang Five Elements describe the BALANCE. When the Five Elements are balanced, they are in harmony and you will be lucky. When they are out of balance, they are in conflict and cause you trouble. So your lucky elements are the ones that bring the Five Elements into balance. Usually the lucky elements are the ones with a lesser weight (score). Here we want to pick Fire as your lucky element, because your Five Elements have a better shape when the weight of Fire increases.

What Happens when Fire is your lucky element:
- Horse and Snake are your lucky animals.
- Years of Horse and Snake are your lucky years.
- Months of Horse and Snake are your lucky Months.
- Summer or hot season is your lucky season.
- 9:00 - 13:00 (9 A.M. to 1 P.M.) are your lucky hours.
- Southern direction is your lucky place.
- It will bring you luck to live a house that faces south.
- You should choose a bedroom on the south side of the house.
- When arranging the office desk, you should sit facing the south.
- Your lucky color is red.
- You should wear in red often.
- You should use the red system for your house decoration.
- Take care of your Circulatory system - Heart, Blood and Tongue.
- Be careful of your eyes and small Intestine too.

What Kuschi thinks: Okay, I sort of get that I am Soil and that my lucky element is fire since I need more of it to get back in balance. However... I have NO idea where the colours for the animals come from... I don't get it. I know that I'm a chicken but that's about it... Why am I a brown chicken? I'm so confused... o_O;
