Goodbye Olympics...

So tonight is the Closing Ceremony for the Summer Olympics in Athens. We watched a lot of it the last 2 weeks. Quite good results for the Netherlands. I think the big winner is Australia. There is not mant Australians yet they have most medals right under China and the USA, who have like the biggest populations and therefore can only be up there. I have to say that these Olympics were even more dissappointing that last winter Olympics regarding the huge amount of corruption and cheating. It's really disgusting how everybody uses doping and how the USA (and other countries) bribe the judges. That's not the sports spirit. At least there was also some really great athletes who went out there and fought and did their best. So that was nice to watch :)

My wisdom teeth are out for good now. This time it didn't hurt as much but this time they also didn't drill in my jaw bone so I have lots less swelling and lots less pain. I'm even going back to work tomorrow so I've only been sick 1 day.

I'm really looking forward to eating normal food again, though. Because I can't chew yet, but I just really really really want to have a Broodje Unox right now... :-S (it's like a hot dog). So I have custard and pudding but it's all so flavor-less... bah... oh well.. .there's worse things :)

Let the Pain commence...

Oi! So tomorrow my other two wisdom teeth will come out. I'm not looking forward to the pain but at least after that it's over. That is unless I have som scary re-growing freak teeth. Which I don't.

So I watched Kill Bill 2 yesterday. Surprising ending for a dramatic character like The Bride. I don't want to give anything away but I was happy with the ending. It's so unlike the end of other tragic murderous characters in such stories. So that's good!

Other than that I "discovered" the joys of anime fansubs. I'm just starting. What it is, is the free translation and distribution of anime series shown on Japanese TV by fans. Those series have not been liscenced yet, i.e. are not for actual sale yet, so you can download the episodes from the internet. Once they are being liscenced you can't, which makes sence. Since I'm a big fan I also don't mind buying the DVDs of my favourite ones. I still have to get the rest of the NOIR DVDs but I can only get the English ones in the US or in Britain. (amazon). There is this new Anime craze here in the Netherlands so they get loads of DVDs. But sadly from France/Belgium. So the only subtitles are French and Dutch, so I can not watch it with someone who doesn't understand those languages. So that's a bummer. Weirdly the DVDs of .hack//SIGN have English subtitles as well as English Dubbing. So maybe they'll go with that from now on. I understand they are being translated in France but there already exist English translations, so why not use them.

Oh and I also have to watch out for the "Nausicäa-Valley of the Valley of Wind" DVD which is being released soon in the US. I guess it's one last giant DVD order on amazon.com since now they ask like 30% import tax when you buy anything out of Europe. What the heck??? It really pisses me off since you cannot get those DVDs anywhere else!!! Oh well. So we have to make sure we carefully check what we could maybe get in the UK before we throw out too much money.

Anyhoo, so I will continue to download some cute japanese anime series and eat loads of babyfood the coming days -__-;

Spending money

Yes... we did it again. We really need to stop...

My favourite buy today was a "The North Face" back-back. Yes, Dana, the one that you have. I just couldn't get it out of my head. It's the coolest backpack I know! And now I own one! Whee!!! :)

Secondly I bought 2 more anime DVDs: .hack//SIGN volume 3 and Read Or Die the OAV :D I also bought more MiniDiscs because 12chen brought some Anime Soundtrack CDs which I had to make a "security copy" off :)

Now I will commence recording all my favourite CDs to the MiniDiscs so that on Monday I can bike to work with my new backpack and loads of different music in my MD-player... :) Love MD!!!! :D

Other than that I signed up for Japanese Beginners Lessons. So that I can read the most important Kanji characters... :)

12chen is staying one day extra, because obviously we haven't eaten enouhg junk-food yet nor have we watched enough episodes of Friends... :D

Observations

It's funny how on some days I actually pay attention to things. This morning it was pouring down like crazy so I decided to go to work by tram. I forgot my book so I was bored and stared out of the window. The tram passed two clothing stores which had the name of 2 people I know. Later when we rode through a park-like area I saw a heron in the water. Those birds are getting quite rare so I guess that one has clipped wings and belongs to the park.. but I bike past there every day and I haven't seen that thing before.
Here at work we have this small store where you can buy tons of candy and also greeting cards and magazines. It's got a lot of import stuff from other European Countries since this is a European Office and I think the owners are English. So when I bought something today this kid, who I swear is not of legal working age, was at the cash register and he was a total Harry Potter lookalike. This dorky kid with stormy hair and round glasses. Then when he opend his mouth to speak he also actually had this weird English accent... so that was funny. He gave me also 1 Euro too much change back... so... go me... haha :) And I only noticed after I left and I was too lazy to go back.

Yesterday morning I saw a really pretty rainbow. It had holes in it because the clouds were at difference distances. Later that day we had a quite nasty storm so that ruined the nice nature experience for the day...

So... more boring stuff I can tell you? well, we're going to Arnhem tonight, but that's not going to be boring :D And now my lunchbreak is over and I have to get some work done :)

New week; new start

So I'm back at work. I generally feel beter but I still have an ear infection which announces its presence every now and then. Since friday we play hosts to our dear friend 12chen. All we do is eat loads of junk food, watch tons of movies and spend most of our time making scoubeedoe keychains and wristbands. Angel has 2 weeks of vacation which she totally deserves. Let's hope besides all the fun things she also gets some painting done in the house. :P

On Saturday we went to the Efteling again. I uploaded some pics to my photopic page. It's not very many since my battery died on me. Mental note to self: charge camera before making fun trip!

Other than that the weather really sucks today. I got rained on this morning and I couldn't go anywhere in my lunch break because it's still wet outside. Hence the bing here and posting online thing. :P

So more news when there finally is some exciting stuff happening ;)

And the worst part is that I know Angel felt even worse. I can at least still sleep.
So I cough my heart out, my nose is stuffed, my ears are stuffed and are like pulsating, I have a giant head-ache and my limbs all hurt. Yeah I know I'm pathetic. I have a doctors appointment at 15:45 this afternoon... why on earth I couldn't get an ealier one is beyond me. I was wheezing and sniffing on the phone. Oh well I live so that counts.

So I'll do some updating once I actually DO somthing again besides lie in my bed with the pillow over my head wanting the pain to go away... I'll see you guys later. Thanks for sticking around...

Here the Promised Update

So yesterday I went to Eindhoven to meet some dear friends and watch *gasp* *shock* *horror* Harry Potter 3. And yes, obviously I went without Angel, who hates Hrry Potter. After getting metally ready with some coffee we bought some nachos and in we went. Since I have read all the books so far I have to say that the movie didn't do book 3 justice... but that would also be hard since the movie was already 2,5 hours long and it still lacked character depth and important events. But there simply is too much and not enough time. The kids are way too old to look 13 and that's gonna get worse in the next movies. But nevertheless I really liked the movie and I want to see it again.

Anyways... so after the movie we went and had some food... I had sate... I always have sate... haha :) So no news there. But then I had to leave since it was already 23:00 and Eindhoven is 1:40 hours away by train. And I'm a little girl... all by myself.... so there were some scary moments in the train... loud ganster-rapper wannabees who kept running through the compartments bonking against the glass doors... :S But I ignored them so they left me alone. I also still cought the last tram so I didn't have to pay for a cab. When I came home Angel was a bit miffed because it was the first day since 2 weeks she felt a bit perky and I wasn't there to be perky with her. I feel bad about that. But I have to say I enjoyed myself in Eindhoven. Nice friends, good food, good movie. :) I still missed Angel, though... :(

So today we went to Arnhem to have a picknick with a big bunch of friends. We took the dogs as well and of course they caused some mayhem... but were loved nonetheless... noone can resist our poopies... :D I still feel a little sick.. nothing I can't handle but today it was really hot (above 30 degress Celsuis) and I was all dead and tired... and then.... A STUPID WASP STUNG ME!!!! I didn't even notice but my finger started hurting and I saw the hole the stupid beast made... and my finger started to become white... so I sucked it all out but it kept hurting. Luckily there was a festival going on in the park where we sat so I could go to the first aid and they cleaned it up and put some stuff on it :) So I'm better now... Luckily I'm not allergic so that's good!

So now we're back home and it's still awfully hot... and very humid... may arms are stuck to the desk while I'm typing this...

oh and before I get of the hype... our newest hobby is this: Click me!

See, we didn't even care about them things until they said in the news that they were dangerous because there is poison in them... so of course now we went out and bought some. Naturally... :P :D I totally stink at it, though. All the things I make are crooked and the colours don't match. Angel is much better at it... :P

So much for now. Tomorrow starts my second week at my nice new job. :) Good things! :D

summer summer summertime...

He... sorry for the lack of updates... :D a full weekend update will come tomorrow evening or something. Doing so much fun things! :) I'm also feeling better health-wise... so see you then :)

Great...

So now I'm also sick :S It's a stupid giant flu. BAH! My skin is all sensitive... just stroking my arm hurts etc.. and my throat hurts. *looks all sad*. I can't be sick, though because there's so much I wanna/have to do... :S dammit! :(

All is well :)

So today I started with the actual work training. I can understand it well so far. No probs anywhere yet :D I'm all positive that I can master it. And plus, you learn a lot of useful stuff, like the Japanese year system (everytime they have a new emperor they start counting from 1 again) and stuff like that. I also found out that I can bike to the big Rijswijk mall in 7 minutes in my lunchbreak. So I did that today and bought a water cooker for our little office. Cup-A-Soup here I come! Also I looked up some clubs and activities which all start in September again (since then everybody is back from vacation) and there's so much choice I don't know what to do first. But I think if there is still room, Tennis will be it. Besides that I will also look into driving classes (those are not at work, though) because if our planning goes well we will go to canada next summer and then I will want to be able to drive a normal (stick) car. And also my German driver's liscenece is not valid here because I am a resident now and not a tourist. I'm not complaining. It's not like I can actually drivr or ever had any proper classes. :P

The Angel Pookster is still really sick. She can't do anything at all. She can't sleep because once she lies down she has to cough again and she will wake up. As a result her body is so week that it hurts with anything she does and of course the mental exhaustion is also no good.

So far our plans for the next couple of weeks are as follows.:
August 8th: picnic in Arnhem
August 14th: Efteling (yes, again!)
August 27th: my other 2 wisdom teeth will be yanked out
September 26th/27th: if all goes well a trip to the Ardennen in Belgium.

So quite busy times. But most important is that Angel will get better soon. I hate to see her like that. It's also a drain on me because I worry so much about her. :(

I'm so tired....

First days are always strainful. I still can't believe it. I have my own half of an office... my own desk, a window that opens, my own printer, my own table lamp... my own whiteboard to put pictures up or write on. And also... it turns out I'll make more money that I though I would... and I can still even get more because I'm German... (i.e. not national of this country) o_O; So next time any of you guys come over... we'll pay for your trip...

As I had already seen last time I went to lunch with them the new collegues are really fun! All nice people. Well I've met only half since the other half is on vacation. I will also look into sporting during lunch or in the mornings or something. Since there is a gym I might as well make use of that.

Small downpoint, though is the fact that there aren't any water machines... so I'll have to fill my water wikthe luke-warm tab water or buy some in the restaurant... well when you think about the fact that I'll make even more money than Angel, then I think I can afford buying some water o_O;

It feels all weird. Like not real. Like I'm just gonna go and work at my old job again tomorrow or something... It still hasn't sunk in. That will come... plus I'll feel beter riding my bike again tomorrow!!! There's nothing more depressing than sitting in a tram during evening rush hour on a warm summer evening... -_-;

Anyhoo... tomorrow I'll start with the real training. Today all I did was read up on the basic proceedings of the organisation. very interesting but also loads of information on a hot day where most people are in the sun, on vacation... *sigh*

I love summer so much and I kinda wish I'd taken a vacation... but oh well... I'll save up days for next year :)

My Birthday

It was grand! I loved it so much!!!

We had a nice afternoon at the beach!!! I love sleeping in the sun!!! And the weather was sooo nice! :) I uploaded some pictures to fotopic. I underestimated the amound of work all the food would take so I was 30 minutes late with dinner and also only because I had many lovely helping hands rescuing me. Next year we'll barbeque! None of the fancy food dip things... also a bigger fridge would help so that I can prepare stuff ahead of time :P

But people liked it all so it was a success! It's a bit hard to devide your attention between 12 people and 2 dogs, but I managed and I think I got to talk to all of them :) I did miss my own family, but they would not have fit anymore, plus they wouldn't have understood all the Dutch!

I got 2 more tickets for the efteling. Those, added to the extra 4 we got because bleech on the floor of their dog-kennel floor ruined our clothes, will let us go to the Efteling another 2 times this year. Once with Wibke and Tanja in 2 weeks and another time just the two of us together. :) I love the Efteling! :D :D :D

Well it was a super great day and althouhg I missed all my family and friends who couldn't be there I enjoyed all the ones that could :) Thanks for everyone that came and especially Edith, Angel's mom, Tanja and Anna for helping me in the kitchen :)

I shall go to bed now... tomorrow I will relax and then on monday will be my first day at my new job. I can't wait! :D
