Fire and Hemlock

So this morning when I woke up I had bad cramps, from you-know-what and since there was a huge storm outside I dedicided to stay home. After Angel had left and I had kinda woken up I tried to read the last couple of chapters of "Fire and Hemlock" by Diana Wynne Jones but my cramps became so bad that I spent the next 2 hours in agony and puking my heart out because of the pain. It was really strange because I was at a point in the book that was really agitating. I didn't understand anything and all sorts of horrible thinsg were happening and all that kinda blended together with my pain so I had to stop reading and tried to sleep instead.

5 hours later I woke up feeling loads better and continued with the book. The more I read the less everything made sense and none of my questions got answered. In the end all was a giant ball of confusion and I was weak and hungry and still a bit sore and when I turned on the radio I heard that the very storm outside my house had spawned a Tornado in the city of London and all I could think of was that it was Polly and Tom Lynn who made it be there.

It wasn't until I Wiki-ed the book and found that Tam Lin was an actual story that I started to see what was happening. It now all makes sense. Reading Fire and Hemlock without the background knowledge I tried to fill all the gaps that should be filled with the Tam Lin story with my own weird interpretation and it made absolutely no sense and left me completely confused. I didn't really get the Tam Lin ballad lines in the beginning of each chapter either. Call me dull or whatever but I really didn't understand them and their connection to the story.

Anyways, I don't want to spoil anyone but find out about Tam Lin first before you read Fire and Hemlock and it will make more sense. I can really recommend it, though! :)
