Central Anatolia is situated on a plateau that’s about 1200-1500 meters above sea level.
That does not mean that it is a flat country. Because of it’s volcanic origins you will find many extinct volcanoes scattered around the landscape. Some of them reach a heigth of more then 3000 meters.  South and southeast of the plateau is the mountainous Taurus range.
