This is going way too far

kuss
Most people kow it as "Negerkuss" or "Mohrenkopf" (german), "Negerzoen" (dutch) or "tête de nègre" (french).
Before I enter Kuschi rant mode I shall write a abit about the history of such names. For example the German word "Mohrenkopf" is created from "Mohr" (meaning dark clay swampland and it's also an older word for "black person") and "Kopf" (which means head). The word was first used in my birthtown of Leipzig (Beethoven's hangout place) in 1892. So more than 110 years ago. It was changed later from "kopf" to "kuss" (kiss because well it's a "baiser" which is french and means kissing) and they also chaned the older word for "black person" to the more wellknown "negro" and no, people tend to always mistake the German word "Neger" with the American N-word, which it's not. "Negro" means nothing more than "black" (lat. = "niger").

I asume it's about the same story in the Netherlands. It's just a name for a yummy mellowy confection. When I grew up I ate TONS of those things and I called them "Negerkuss" all the time and not ONCE did I make the connection between my treat and "black people". Not once until some "politically correct" people brought it up how racist we Germans are by calling it by that name. They even won and "Negerküsse" are now called "Schockoküsse" (chocolate kisses).

Now the same thing is happening in The Netherlands. The Negerzoen (same meaning as the German word) is now being renamed to "Buys Zoen" and I have no idea what it means, btw.

I personally think that these kind of names mean nothing literal to the wide masses but because some people like to start fights and be whiney these things become huge issues. Well screw all you political correctness whores, I'll still call it "Negerkuss" or "Negerzoen" cause that what I've ALWAYS called it. No meaning behind it other than that foamy goodness! Germany had a very small amount of "black people". To us they were exotic, interesting and something uncommon. We didn't have slavery or civil rights stuff like in the US. We had some colonies in Africa but lost them before ever doing as much crap to them like for example France, or great Britain. So we have a totally different view towards "black people" than for example Americans. Also I grew up in East Germany and we had close ties with many African countries in the 70s and 80s. We had exchange programs and Africans just came over and there was no racism or discriminations.

So get frakking over it! It's not like naming it differently will make racism stop in the world. How about US cops stop with shooting African Americans in the head? Seriously, stop the real crap instead of pointing fingers at chocolate coated marshmellows.

There, so now I shall buy "Negerküsse" tonight! Hah!
