Want to know more about the Napoleons?

Okay... all right... fine! Here's the low-down on the hoe-down...:

what:

Their musical influences are pretty one-dimensional. Like, they couldn't even play complicated stuff if it would save their lives, see? And besides, do you think it's relevant whether or not someone secretly plays Hungarian folk music records at home..? Hell no! As long as the Napoleons play rock'n'roll the way it should be (i.e.: raw and recklessly), I don't care if they listen to nursery rhymes, or to that Minneapolis midget, as long as they do it at home...

However - if you want to know what they play: take two pounds of Pebbles, a pound-and-a-half of Back From The Grave, stir with some Garage Punk Unknowns, add some Sixties Rebellion for personal taste, sprinkle with beer, and serve Childishly.

since when:

The Napoleons played their first "gig" at the "beat cellar" of OJV de Koornbeurs, in Delft, on a hot Tuesdaynight (August 19th 1997, if you need to know) and, well... after the (short) set plus the (shorter) encore, they were given some free beers. That rang a bell. "Maybe we oughtta do this more often!" - "Yeah," said a couple of guys who'd just came in, "like why not do it right now? We missed the whole thing!" There was some debate: "Come on, we can't play the same shit all over again, now can we?" - "Sure you can!" The bartender supplied some more beers (on stage, the Napoleons drink ½-liters of beer only), and yeah, people wanted them to play the same shit all over again. So they did... better than the first time!

what next:

Plenty of plans, don't worry (or start worrying if you're into lame MOR*). The debut EP on Tombstone Records, "In Sound Shape", has been just released right now (June '98 that is); it was made using the luxury of Four Track Recording, along with the finest Vox equipment, Fred Cole from Dead Moon mastered it on his 1958 Presto-88 disc cutter, and the band are very happy with the results. Don't expect a smooth "rock" record though. This is not a band to spend time in a recording studio and then artificially "sixtiesize" the sound afterwards... they just press 'record', count four and wig out! Besides, the Napoleons fuck up regularly and enthusiastically, but then, they know how to make rock roll again...
More plans? Sure! This fall will see the release of a split 7" of the Napoleons with DEAD MOON, no less, and the bands will probably play eachother's songs; the Napoleons recorded Fred Cole's "Frustration" and Dead Moon picked Eric Danno's "I Don't Care If You Go" to do...
