In this short history of my life I have indulged in my passion for old maps. I am collecting old maps from each town I've lived or worked in. I have not completed this process in real life, but in virtual life I have virtually succeeded.

I was born in 1956 in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. Before coming of memory, my parents moved to Rotterdam, still the biggest port in the world. And after a while, they decided to go back to their roots and they (including my sisters and me) moved to Borculo, a small town near the German border. I went to school to Zutphen, a hanseatic town with a proud history in the Middle Ages.

After finishing school I went to study electronics in Enschede (Technical Univeristy of Twente) but decided that was not my cup of tea. Instead of that I went to Groningen to study psychology at the university, which also published the digital versions of the maps you can find on this site.

When I finished my studies I started to work at the Institute for Public Health and Environment (RIVM) in Bilthoven. First I worked for the informatics department, later on I did research for the public health department, mainly on simulations of influnza. I moved to Eindhoven in order not to travel too much. But after a while I decided to move to Utrecht, one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands, already established by the Romans 2000 years ago. Recently I took a job at the Home Office in The Hague (the largest village of the Netherlands) to work at the electronic highway.
