Amédée Gordini saw his first motor erace when he was eight years old. He started working in a garage when he was eleven. He worked for a fiat dealer in Bologna and he worked as a mechanic for Alfieri Maserati. In the early 1920s he moved to Paris, where he worked for garage that repaired Hispano-Suiza cars. In 1925 he started his own company in Suresnes, assembling Fiats. He cooperated with Henri Pigozzi who founded Simca in 1934. Gordini became head of the Simca motor racing department and quickly improved the cards.

After The Second World War he built his own racing cards and in 1946 a Simca-Gordini won the Grand Prix of Marseilles. In 1949 his best racing car driver Jean-Pierre Wimille died and in the 1950s Simca's became less interested in racing. Gordini started his own company in 1952. In 1953 he received the Légion d'honneur. His engine tuner known as 'sorcerer' became famous. In 1957 he was engaged by Renault. In 1968 his company merged with Renault. He died in 1979 in Paris.
