Using ChessTutor to display various chess databases

The ChessTutor applet shown above is setup to display one of several available PGN databases. These databases are actually stored using the PGZ format, which is a compressed PGN format, providing faster download times and smaller disk storage requirements on the Web server. Users may select one of the available entries from the 'PGN URL' list, thereby instructing the software to load or re-load that particular database.

Some of the available databases are:

  • World championship games - wchamp.pgz
  • USA 1997 championship games - usachamp.pgz
  • Bobby Fisher's games - fischer.pgz
