Welcome to my KLM house ( klm huisjes ) shop.

There is a new house # 90.

Amstelveen, 7 October 2009 - The 90th KLM Delft Blue House is a replica of ‘Wester-Amstel’ house in Amstelveen, one of the oldest surviving merchant’s houses in Holland. This was announced by KLM President & CEO, Peter Hartman, on Wednesday at the KLM 90th anniversary celebrations. Hartman also presented the first copy of the book ‘House No. 90’ to Prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven, a member of the Dutch Royal Family. This is a special publication about the KLM Houses collection. The photographic exhibition ‘90 Years of KLM’ was also opened on Wednesday at the Museum Jan van der Togt in Amstelveen.

Mieke de Boer on tour in Amsterdam

Mieke de Boer and Theo Kiewiet on the Keizersgracht, Amsterdam.

Mieke de Boer, well known from the Travel Magazine, is an avid collector of the KLM houses. In fact she told me she has three complete series now. Inspired by my eBook, "the KLM collection visited" we decided to meet and make a tour along some of the Amsterdam "KLM" houses.

HOUSE OF BOLS

Bols supplies the jenever for the KLM houses and has opened a museum in Amsterdam. In the museum shop  you can buy a house like the KLM houses containing BOLS jenever.

It is not a KLM house but I  can offer it for sale at €32.50 or you can visit the museum in Amsterdam and buy it there.

On these pages you will find some history on the decanters, a page where you can request a quote if you would like to buy some of these houses, an overview of all houses in one page, pictures of every miniature including some of older versions by Henkes , Rynbende and BOLS and pictures of the houses with links to their current use if available on the Bols page

I live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and buy houses locally which find their way all over the world. I guess I must be the largest housing agent in the city. I do not have a shop in town but if you visit Holland and would like to buy some houses please contact me for pick up options.

I visited the houses to make pictures and created an eBook.

Thank you for your visit and please let me have any pictures or information you would like to share.

Theo Kiewiet.

Short history

1952/7?    Rynbende and KLM introduce the houses containing oude genever, apricot brandy and jonge jenever. Early houses were produced by de Porceleyne Fles, later Goedewaagen took over.

1970    Rynbende and Henkes merge, the Rynbende brand is still used but the houses are marked Henkes, the content is only jonge jenever from here onwards.

1986    Bols takes over Henkes

1994    KLM 75th anniversary introduction of houses  # 61-75

1995    Goedewagen no longer supplies the houses

2002    Introduction of house # 83, houses are now dated with a year.

2003    September 30th. KLM is taken over by Air France, will there be delft blue houses in future? The KLM will be around as a brand and as an airline. I guess there will be houses in the years to come, but there may be changes ahead. KLM may lose the K which stands for Royal and the crown may have to be removed. Let's wait what Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands will rule on this.

2004    HRM Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, etc has granted KLM the right to use the K in future, KLM remains Royal Dutch Airlines.

2004    KLM issues the first house outside of Holland but still in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

2007    KLM 88 t Lootsje in Amsterdam

2008    KLM 89 is presented
