CHESS MASTER 1  (30 june 2004)

As you may know, this site hosts a large collection of chess computers.

The collection contains some rare specimens, like the two smallest chess computers ever made:

Another showpiece is Milton, which moves its own pieces:

  Milton

And today a rare specimen was added to the collection, Chess Master , a chess computer that was made in the German Democratic Republic:

  Chess Master

Being curious how well it played, I organized two games with Chess Tiger (click, click, click).

Chess Tiger - Chess Master

Chess Master - Chess Tiger

While the two computers were playing, I realized that this was not really a fair match: Chess Master is about fifteen years older than both the hardware of Zire and the software of Chess Tiger. In future weblogs I'll try to pit Chess Master against a few other computers.
