Who was it who said, that love is the spice of Life?
Some romantic, maybe, looking through rose-tinted glasses.
But what of the everyday person, seeing all in logical perspective?
The time may come when you encounter another
With all the apparent appeal and unresistable allure
Of something more lethal than poisoned passion fruit.
Where does Love lead you, then?
Into an inescapable depression, I fear -
Unless you can bring Reason to the fore
And extract yourself from that primitive trap.
But when all you must do is defined in documents
Mathematically presented, and scientifically analysed
Then your sole necessities, if you wish to progress
Are a strong determination, single-mindedness and Logic:
And emotions are only a false and distractive wastefulness,
A sign of weakness beneath the surface, which you must suppress
And for which you have absolutely no requirement.
But maybe Life's priorities can indeed be changed
And Love can finally become the "spice" -
With the experience of a real
Close encounter...
