a generations' span

The Span of a Generation.
-------------------------

What a wonderful advancement, in this technological world,
When today's years seem to progress faster than yesteryear's decades.
Look at how efficient we seem to have become - there's more,
And more and more, for every day that we live.
And still, yet, we are travelling further, faster, discovering all,
Attempting to become masters of our Universe, and convincing ourselves
That we are indeed on the right path.

We shall get there, in the end.

Proving each new material, each new technique, each new refinement,
Then utilising what we have to ever nearer that hundred percent.
Educating ourselves and elevating ourselves with seemingly new knowledge
Listening well to the revered opinions of the new generation,
Showing us the way to ever greater heights, ever more possibilities,
Taking on new languages of increased awareness and better presentation,
More in-depth understanding of where we are all travelling.

We shall get there, in the end.

Closer and closer, integrating our societies, our communities,
Seeming to move in more coherent directions,
Our leaders speaking ever more the same thoughts, so we hear,
How better we tolerate, and combine our efforts with, others.
Feel the harmony, the growing well-being, as we walk amongst the wonders
That we better comprehend today.
It is indeed a rosy future that we seem to be approaching.

We shall get there, in the end.

Examine where you are, and let yourself realise
How far we have progressed since the day that you were born.
Be happy that our species seems to realise the importance of all others
And is working to redeem the uncommitted sins of our forefathers.
Taste the freedom that we have, unhindered by slave's chains,
Walk, run and leap for joy in our cleaner, safer world,
On the way to our unimaginably wonderful future.

We shall get there, in the end.

What a brilliant rainbow of experience and evolution we have encompassed
As sons and daughters of troubled civilizations, seemingly enlightened.
Almost transcending all layers of our history to such an extent
That our memory goes back only into colourful play of youth.
The monochromed troubles and anguish that our ancestors fought
Are, yet as we try to remember them, able to become the present again -
Let us remain vigilant, and attentive, lest:

We shall end, when we get there.

The danger of yesteryear has not become so far distant as we would
like to think. We must all, every one of us, stay awake, not dreaming...
Or disillusionment and ignorance will win again.
