ideal perfection

An ideal.
---------

Sciences allow us to develop and learn:

Mathematics allow us to predict and analyse,
Chemistry shows us the nature of substances,
Biology tells us what we are made of,
Physics indicates the relation of energy and matter,
Astronomy can reveal where we came from.

The quest for knowledge and desire for advancement
Can drive us on from one plane to the next:
But some emotions lead us to ignore these things,
And engage in illogical and pointless persuits!
Such a waste of learning, with unpredictable results.

This stuff of no substance nor energy, defeating analysis
Should surely be conscribed to history, forgotten
Only then could we begin to advance in reality
Outside the confinement of our thorny rose-gardens
And without all the worthless distractions.

Alas, only in dreams may we see this ideal...
