Free as Air?

Free As Air.
------------

Who was it who said, that Life could be "free as air"?
Some hermit, maybe, existing in utter seclusion.
But what of the 'normal' individual, You or I?
The time may come when you share your life with another's
And what life do you live, then?
By no means do we all see eye-to-eye:
So what if all you do with good intent
Is turned to evil in the other's eye?
A case of an infinite force versus an immovable object, I fear.
What is the meaning of strife, of love, of Life itself?
The answer is far too elusive for words, I suggest.
Either cyanide or insanity must be the cure,
Failing the obviously impossible prevention.
Or maybe it's all been reversed
Through the clouds of my own
Insanity.
