The abbreviations used for electrodes are as follows:
h = heater connection (directly or indirectly heated) k = cathode g1 = grid g2 = screen grid g2-g4 a = anode a' = secondary anode Ad = anode, diode 1 (same as ad1)
Where an electrode is bonded out to more than one pin, then in general both pins concerned will be shown (e.g. 1:k 2:g1 3:k ...). When a pin is either not present or not connected, then it will not be listed (e.g. 2:h 3:g1 5:g2 ...). 'IC' stands for Internal Connection, to which no other circuit connections should be made. TC stands for Top Cap. The negative control-grid bias quoted is that for the main controlled electrode, in many cases g1, but sometimes g4 or so, as in the case of some hexode mixers, for example. D.DIODE stands for Double-Diode, DI.TRIODE stands for diode-triode, D-D. PENT. for double-diode-pentode, other abbreviations being of the same type and easily understandable. 'N' stands for Nonode. A.C. voltages are RMS or rectified-output volts, not peak or P.I.V. A 'HEXODE' or 'OCTODE' valve/tube normally performs as a mixer, or frequency-changer, function.
