Calculations with sound power level.

Use this calculation program to get a very approximate idea of the equivalent sound level produced by the machines on a sensitive spot. You can fill in the LWA-level found in the equipment noise levels database, press the calculate button and you will have the sound level on the preset 25 meters distance. This is, of course, a LAeq sound level when the machine is operating. The default is for 8 hour functioning over an 8 hr working period. If this is to be different, fill in the time the machine operates in the required time, eg 4 hour in a 12 hour working day.
If you have to do so, depends of course on local regulations, which may require an LAeq over a time period not te be exceeded, or an absolute maximum. If you are interested, have a look at the Dutch regulations for construction noise. Change the other settings to suit your case.
If you leave the L WA-box blank and fill in the required sound level AND the expected distance between machine and dwelling, the LWA-level is calculated, so you can go and buy a machine the fulfills this demand.

Sound power level of machine (LWA in dB(A))
(Leave blank (not 0) if you fill in the required sound level)

data on geometry
Heigth of source (meter)
Horizontal distance between source and receiver (meter)
Fraction sound absorbing soil (0=all reflecting(sand, concrete, water); 1= all absorbing(arable land, forest floor)
Heigth of house or observer (meter)
Machine operates(hrs) in a total period of (hrs)
