Goodbye PolderBackup

Dear Polderbackup user,

The development and support of Polderbackup is discontinued. For several reasons I decided to pull the plug on Polderbackup:
  • I do a lot of development work at my work, and coming home I don't have any desire to do any more of that to satisfy other people.
  • Most of the time spent on Polderbackup is supporting users. The support questions have become increasingly repetative and caused by not reading the manual. Answering these questions felt like work more and more.
  • Most of the emails I get on this address is spam.
  • Most important: I ordered an Apple Macintosh, and I'm going to spend some time with that, developing things for myself in other programming languages for fun.
For you, Polderbackup user, that means:
  • You can still download and use Polderbackup.
  • The latest and last version, 2.8, verifies every copy action with md5 checksum technology, so that you can be absolutely sure files are copied correctly.
  • Donations to Animal shelter Polderweg are still very much welcome.
  • Support for this program is no longer available.
  • Emails to Polderbackup will not be answered. I could answer them with a standard, polite email, but due to the amounts of spam I get on this emailadres, this would generate too much mail traffic.
  • The guestbook will stay open for comments.
To answer one question that many will certainly ask:
"Will the sourcecode be available?" The answer is no. Why not? Because.

Many thanks go to Alexander who changed the helppage from looking like shit to looking nice and readable.
I wish to thank all users who have donated generously to animal shelter Polderweg in Amsterdam and to their local animal shelter or other animal welfare institutions. I also wish to thank all users who have given me input so that I could improve Polderbackup.
Please keep supporting animal shelter Polderweg.

Have fun with Polderbackup until other programs have surpassed it. Polderbackup can zip and unzip, comes with a restore function, and verifies that each backed up file is identical to it's original with md5 checksum technology. PolderBackup is an easy to use backup tool with a good array of features that will meet most basic backup needs. You can select directories and files to be backed up and save them as templates, so you can keep multiple backup sets and only start the one you need. The program supports recursive directories, file filters and moving redundant files to the recycle bin. Your backup process is clearly documented, all steps of the way are logged and accessible from the interface. That way you can be certain that the backup was successful. Very easy to use. Supports command line options, and is very pro-cats! Current version: 2.8.0
So start using this program before windows screws up your computer and it's too late. And if you like it, SEND MONEY to the animals. Here's the account number of the animal shelter "Dierenopvangcentrum Polderweg" in Amsterdam: 69.67.12.148 of ING Bank in the Netherlands.
IBAN: NL04 INGB 0696 7121 48.
SWIFT address: INGBNL2A.
Mention 'PolderBackup Gift'. Remember that it's officially tax deducible. Another, easy way to donate money to support Polderweg is by Paypal:
