Do it yourself: '77 Nocturne 2

Build from one piece of maranti wood.

 The center-piece is 7"width (17 cm), 

the pieces to form the body are cut out beside the neck.

Pick-ups are Gibson small humbuckers from a Les Paul Special.

 '69 Danelectro Longhorn Bass. The second guitar I bought, I traded-in my firstguitar in 1970 for this one.

1973 Gibson SB 300, bought by me in 1975. Pick-up mounts made by me, the extra bridge pick-up is from my '65 Fender Telecaster.

'78 Gibson RD Artist. Bought second-hand in 1999.

'95 Paloma AC 12, cheap mini-guitar.

Do it yourself: '80 Nocturne 3    

Build from over-the-years-collected parts; unknown maple body and neck, Fender tremolo, Schaller machine-heads, Gibson PAF and P90 pick-ups and self-made pick-up plate.

2 volume and 1 master tone control, 1 pick-up selector, 1 switch to use the pick-ups in opposite polarity and 1 switch to use the PAF as humbucker, single-coil or both coils in opposite polarity.

Do it yourself: '90 Nocturne 5

Build from one-piece mahogany, 13" (34 cm) width. Ibanez machine-heads, bridge and tail-stop. One Gibson Small Humbucker and one Ibanez Hot Humbucker.

2 volume and 1 master tone control, 1 pick-up selector, 1 switch to use the pick-ups in opposite polarity and 1 switch to use the neck pick-up as humbucker, single-coil or both coils in opposite polarity.

 

'65 Fender Tele, bought from a friend in 1972.Customized by Thompson in '76. The neck pick-up is a Gibson Small Humbucker, the bridge pick-up is the original Fender core rewound to match the Gibson's output. Pick-up mounts are hand-made.

 '60 Silvertone. Found in a guitar-shop in 2000, complete with the case with build-in tube amp.  

 '76 Nocturne 1

My first self-made guitar, with a custom wound pick-up by Thompson. Machine-heads from Schaller. The rest is hand-crafted.

 '99 BlueStar Lapmaster.   Bought new.

'60 Oahu. Bought on the Internet in 2000

 '50 Tonemaster. Bought on the Internet in 2001

 '98 Westfield  mandoline.
