Project Concept " I want to be a star"

1.Condition
i. I need special clothes to decorate myself, and show my appearance.
ii. When I performed on the stage, there are dancers dancing at my rear.

2.Solution
i. In clothes, I use Chinese traditional dress as the main cloth, combine LED of the modern technology that prominent my shinny and beautiful appearance.
ii. During the performance, the sensors on my body record the data of my sport tracks. These data will be conveyed to the computer, and then, the computer duplicates my dynamic data, and puts two dummies after operating. The postures of these two dummies are completely the same with mine. The computer will throw the images on screen by projector that make three-I(me) at the stage while performing.

3. Presentation
i. I will wear the clothes which combine with LED and the Chinese dress.
ii. I will perform a dance of CanCan that let the screen show the superimposed images of fictitious and entity.

4. Finally
I want to combine many kinds of elements of different attributes, and demonstrate the performance, Chinese traditional dress - electronic product LED Moulin Rouge Entity and fictitious, of crossing over the culture, time, medium materials, and the truth-and-false.

user saver (screen saver)
=========================================
Machines are here to stay and we better learn how to cope with them and try to minimize the damage they are creating.
We already have screen savers on our machines, in order to protect our machines from over use, We also invest in special cases for our laptops, and take good care of our cars, and our cell phones, all this in an attempt to maximize the life span and service quality of these machines.
It is maybe about time to take equal care of the users of those machines.
I would like to design devices that will protect the user from some of the consequences that these machines have on their human users.
Possible devices are:
1. A temperature sensing earring that notifies the cell phone user whenever her ear is getting too warm due to a lengthy cell phone conversation
2. Reclaim my public space: A device that disables wireless communication of all sorts (especially cell phones) in a certain radius around the person wearing that device.

DESIRE TO EXPRESS ONES IDENTITY IN RESPONSE TO THE FEAR OF NOT BEING UNIQUE or replaceable.

The Threadless.com online T-shirt shop and recommendation device promotes high scoring T-shirt designs (high scoring measured by their popularity) to the e-shelf in the e-shop. Extract from threadless.com 22.02.05.
This is a valuable device if you are a trend follower (or you wish to look like your friends), you will always be able to purchase what all the other followers have and would like to have. However how is it if you are a trend-setter (not wanting to be a clone) and would like to purchase a design that is not yet popular? Well this particular device does not allow for this action or individual.
Threadless.com is a system that does not support one of the two social tendencies essential to the establishment of fashion. These two tendencies are "the need people have to be both part of the larger social group yet not be so bound up in the group that they posses no individuality"
In Simmels account 'Two social tendencies are essential to the establishment of fashion' and should either of these tendencies be absent from or lacking in a society 'fashion will not be formed'
"We want to look like our friends but not be clones"

A Threadless buyer can experience a bias towards quantified popularity. I am not able or even permitted within this system to purchase a t-shirt design that is not popular. If it does become popular I can make the purchase. The consequences of this are a device, which is bias towards populism. I wish to emphasize here once more a loss of idiosyncrasy is confirmed when I attempt and fail to purchase an item which has not yet been deemed 'cool' and counted cool by enough others.

In response to this I propose to explore the possibilities of an imaginary device for the front flat panel of the T-shirt which has a changeable design manifested in a display for the changeable graphic, this will enable and encourage changeable idiosyncrasies and the expression of ones identity.

Why a T-shirt?
The t-shirt is a culturally relevant item to track and record its popularity and exclusivity for a few reasons:
"Overall 70 percent of men and 54 percent of women have more than 10 t-shirts." A Short (but Authoritative) History of the T-shirt, 2003 David Ryan
The T-shirt:
A tool to express ones individuality
A uniform
A walking front facing flat surface billboard used to promote anything from films to beer and a device to communicate our identity.
T-Shirts and identity:
By W.W.II, some Army divisions began printing their camp name or division emblems on their T-shirts. Not un-similar to how students wear T-shirts to identify them with their university. The front of the body is a largest front facing flat surface area that functions in as an ideal 'badge' or 'communication panel'.

dragana desire

My Desire Project is related to traveling or leading a nomadic way of life. This came out of my greatest wish to travel around the world. But in this wish I have divided opinion, or two different modalities of the same wish.

From one side, professional part of me is excited about seeing cities and towns, not only on pictures (like till now) but alive because you cannot sense or feel a space from pictures. So my excitement in this way would be in discovering new things, seeing new buildings, spaces, streets, meeting different people with various cultural backgrounds. I think that every city has its own personality that is in most of the cases bounded with personality of its people (anyway cities would not exist without people) and we are all different. So when I first arrived in Holland I felt this fulfillment in my lungs and stomach. Like I would finally have the chance to live one of my dreams (to study abroad) and to see new things and sense life in its full grasp.

On the other side, my other part of personality (adventurous me) who is a nature freak is excited with traveling through nature. While I was in Serbia I was a member of a mountaineering community with whom I traveled through Serbia's undiscovered (or less known) natural parts. And it was amazing experience because nature can fill your batteries more than any vacation in a city, ever. But I guess these are two different incomparable things. There you loose sense about time and you manage to be completely relaxed, you forget about your worries and problems (and three or four days seem like a week or more). At the end you are physically exhausted and feel every bone and muscle on your body but you are hilariously happy because you have this amazing feeling that you are filled with beauty and peace. It is completely different feeling from the first one and maybe more close to me. I don't know.

According to the traveling topic, things that I come up with till now are:
1. Smart bag, which can detect are there missing things inside the bag (the ones that we forgot to pack).
2. Part of clothes that release a sound or emit light when we are faced towards north.

how to find STEIM:
From Amsterdam Central Station take tram 4 (on the left side of the main exit as you come out). Get off at the stop Frederiksplein. Walk back, turn right just before entering Utrechtsestraat. The street is still called Frederiksplein but once you reach the small gracht the name changes to Achtergracht. STEIM is at number 19.
