ORIGIN

Luk Hop (=lukhop, liu he, liuhe; six combinations/harmonies) is one of the many styles whose origin can be traced back to the Shaolin monastry. Luk Hop was introduced in 1975 to the Netherlands by sifu Tang Kut Cheung, where he instructed over the years to come a large group of students in and around Amsterdam. He left the Netherlands in 1981.

Sifu K.C. Tang decided in 1983 to bring Luk Hop under attention of a broader European public. Luk Hop branches were actively introduced to Italy (e.g. Moggio UD, Resiutta, Pontebba, Sacile [Pordenone, 1987], Tarvisio, Tolmezzo, and Udine) and Austria (Villach, 1988).

The students from several Luk Hop branches are engaged in setting up an international exchange programme to harmonize and to analyse different approaches to Luk Hop. This should lead to the establishment of an international federation to preserve and improve the Luk Hop heritage through cultural exchange, integration and discussion.
