3. INSERT THE SHUTTER THROUGH THE LENS BOARD AND SCREW THE FLANGE DOWN SNUGLY BUT NOT TOO TIGHT- IF THE HEILAND METAL BOARD IS USED WITH A SUPERMATIC SHUTTER TURN THE FLANGE UPSIDE DOWN. THIS IS NOT NECESSARY WITH A COMPUR SHUTTER.
4. Loosen screw (1B) Fie. 8 and remove the entire coil assembly from the head, then install the head on the lens board as per the diagram Fig. 9, using screws supplied (screws Fig. 4).
5. Loosen screw (1A) and pull out the wire bail arm 1/8 Inch, except on 3 ¼ x 4 ¼  cameras with Press Compur and dial set (old style Compur shutters). When using these shutters the wire bail arm is generally used all the way in, or at the most it is only pulled out l/16th inch. Cock the shutter on any speed above 1/25 th sec. preferably the top speed.
6. Now revolve the shutter clockwise until the shutter just trips when the coil arm (2A) Fig. 9 is perpendicular or parallel to the side of the lens board. Do this carefully as it is important to the successful operation of your synchronizer. The small S hook furnished is installed on the shutter release of all Supermatic shutters. The large end of the S fits on the spool of the shutter release lever. Bend with a small pair of pliers the very tip of the large end of the S hook around the spool. Be sure that it swings freely on the spool. The hook now becomes a part of the shutter. The small end of the hook fits into the wire bail of the synchronizer coil. To install Supermatic shutter hook (screw type) on early Supermatic shutters, loosen screw and spread jaws sufficiently to allow hollow hole in rear jaw to slip over pin in back side of tripping arm; tighten screw so that indentation in front jaw slips into the recess on the front side of shutter tripper; engage synchronizer tripping arm bail with hook.
If you are using a Compur Shutter be sure that the coil-tripping arm clears the diaphragm stop lever when the diaphragm is set at maximum opening.
