Classic American Press Cameras

The continuing success of the Folmer & Swing Graflex press cameras was not unnoticed by the competitors and soon they came with more or less the same type of camera on the market. One of them was Burke & James, Inc. 223 W. Madison Street Chicago, Ill.,  originally an importer of camera and lenses and a supplier of tons of other photographic equipment for the photographer, amateur as well as professional.

Even Busch Precision Camera Corporation  brought a Graflex-look a like on the market, while Kalart, the inventor of the Kalart rangefinder and some other very intelligent camera accessories brought all these inventions together and added some new developments to create his famous Kalart Camera.

Another famous US camera constructor Vic Yager designed one of the most interesting press cameras ever build, but unfortunately it came at least one decennium too late on the market to be successful. Only less than one hundred Vidax Cameras ware made. I'm very proud to have one, which you might like to admire on one of the next pages. You may click on the thumbnails to visit the pages.
