This page shows the list of seeded and unseeded teams for draws in the qualifying rounds and the group stage of the Europa League 2009/2010. The UEFA Team Ranking of 2009 determines the seeding of the teams in the tables below. See Qualification 2009/2010 for a list of qualified teams, and Access List 2009/2010 for an overview of berths per country. See also wikipedia.
Access to the 1st qualifying round is granted to 3 Fair Play teams. In the Europa League qualifying rounds the teams will be no longer be divided into regional groups (as used previously in the UEFA Cup).
The Europa League cup-holder spot will not be used because Shakhtar Donetsk already qualified for the Champions League. This implies that the 4th qualifying round is extended with an extra match. This is accomplised when the cup winners of the 16th and 17th countries on the ranking list (FC Sion, Switzerland and Litex Lovech, Bulgaria) have direct access to the 4th qualifying round, the cup winners of the 28th and 29th countries on the ranking list (APOP Kinyras Peyias, Cyprus and IB Ljubljana, Slovenia) have direct access to the 3rd qualifying round, and the 2nd Europa League team of the 35th and 36th countries on the ranking list (Derry City, Ireland and Milano Kumanovo, Macedonia) and the cup winners of Andorra (Santa Coloma) and San Marino (Juvenes Dogana) have direct access to the 2nd qualifying round of the Europa League.

Unseeded teams in the 1st qualifying round that qualify for the next round take effectively the coefficient of their opponent in the next round: Vllaznia Shkodër replaced the seeded team Sligo Rovers (1.899), and Valletta FC replaced the seeded team Keflavik (1.333). The reason for this is that the draw for the 2nd qualifying round is made before the results of the 1st qualifying round are known.

Unseeded teams in the 2nd qualifying round that qualify for the next round take effectively the coefficient of their opponent in the next round: Garabag Agdam replaced the seeded team Rosenborg BK (28.760), Slavija Sarajevo replaced the seeded team AaB Aalborg (24.890), OFK Petrovac replaced the seeded team Anorthosis Famagusta (12.016), KR Reykjavik replaced the seeded team AE Larissa (7.633), FC Vaduz replaced the seeded team Falkirk FC (5.575), FK Sarajevo replaced the seeded team Spartak Trnava (2.933), FC Lahti replaced the seeded team Nova Gorica (2.816), and Vetra Vilnius replaced the seeded team HJK Helsinki (1.958). The reason for this is that the draw for the 3rd qualifying round is made before the results of the 2nd qualifying round are known.

Once the 4th qualifying round (or play-off round) has been completed, the 48 remaining clubs are drawn into twelve groups of four. Clubs from the same association will not be drawn into the same group. A computer draw determines the final position of the teams within their group. These positions determine the order of the home and away matches. The following match sequence applies:

The twelve group-winners and twelve runners-up of the group stage qualify for the second round. The clubs that finish this stage in third or fourth position in their group are eliminated. The 24 teams that qualify are joined with 8 teams from the Champions League who finsihed at the 3th position in the CL group.
The draw for the 2nd round takes the following rules into account:
a) Clubs from the same association must not be drawn against each other,
b) The 12 group-winners and the 4 best third-ranked teams in the Champions
League group stage are drawn against the 12 group runners-up and the
remaining third-ranked teams in the Champions League group stage,
c) The winners and runners-up of the same group cannot be drawn against each other,
d) Group-winners and the 4 best third-ranked in the Champions League
group stage play the return leg at home.
