Thanks first of all to Jens Cornely, who supplied me with track list and lyrics before I had the CD myself. The lyrics have been corrected here and there to fit the songs as Sarah sings them, with thanks to Bjorn Handeland and Chantelle Duxbury for helping me with this.

Notes on some songs :

This song did not appear on the original version of the CD from 1995, as mentioned above. The lyrics as given on the single page with all lyrics are copied from the page with the lyrics of the "Timeless" version; the CD-booklet of "Fly" gives the same lines but without the names of the singers dividing the stanzas.

Murder in Mairyland Park is written by Stina Nordenstam. Bjorn Handeland wrote me that Stina is a little-known Swedish singer who is supposed to be very mysterious: no one seems to know more about her than that she is Swedish. The music of that original version is very much like Sarah's version, Bjorn wrote.
There are some Latin lines in the song and in the original they are quite clear, and they read:

Agnus, agnus
Dei
Agnus, agnus
Qui tollis peccata mundi

I thought that Sarah sings "Dominus, dominus" instead of "Agnus, agnus" (which would make sense: "Lord, who takes a way ..."), but it can well be that Sarah stretches the "agnus" making it sound a bit like "dominus": Latin lines like this, originating from the Roman-Catholic liturgy, are sung rather solemnly and thus often unclear. All in all, I now think Sarah sings "Agnus, agnus", so I put that in the lyrics (after having had "dominus" there for a while). By the way, "mundi" is absent from Sarah's version" Sarah seems to stretch "peccata", fading away in the background music.

 

The original Latin lines of the Agnus of the Roman-Catholic liturgy are:

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: miserere nobis
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: miserere nobis
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: dona nobis pacem

Translation:

Lamb of God, who takes a way the sins of the world, have mercy on us
Lamb of God, who takes a way the sins of the world, have mercy on us
Lamb of God, who takes a way the sins of the world, grant us peace

This is the "video version" of the duet; on the original 1995-release there is a more ballad-like version -- see the remarks on this made below regarding the Fly-II album, which also has a third version. The lyrics of all these versions are the same, and in all cases the song is a duet with Chris Thompson.

The four lines of lyrics of A question of honour given in the CD-booklet are by no means complete: the song has much more text, which are, thanks to Bjorn Handeland, complete on the lyrics page. Note that A question of honour includes parts of the song (aria) La Wally which Sarah also sings on the CD "Timeless", but there are no credits in the CD-booklet of "Fly" for this.

 

In June 2001 Angel Records released a 57 minute maxi-single entitled "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" (see cover on the right), which has five versions of this song:

The version on the "Fly" CD is creditted Tom Lord-Alge, so it presumably is the same as the last of these mixes.

The above five Question of Honour versions were already released on the A Question of Honour - dance mixes edition (19??).

 

Two versions were also released on A Question of Honour - limited edition single (1995; cover shown on the right), together with the song On the Nile.

The song How can heaven love me is a different (more ballad-like) version then the song on the 1997-release -- the latter CD has the "video version" (no. 12) on the "rare tracks" CD. Song 3 of the "rare tracks" CD is yet another version, more disco-like version. In all cases, however, the lyrics are the same and featuring Chris Thompson.
