Fvwm2 is a window manager that runs on Unix systems.
It can be customized in many ways, and allows the
user to give it a personal touch. Such a personal setup is
sometimes referred to as a theme.
Fvwm themes
'CDEmu' theme 0.6. This is an integrated theme for
fvwm2 , gtk, kde and X emulating the look of CDE. Comes with gtk-perl script
with dialogs for configuring colors, backdrops and fonts and a custom gtk theme
engine. The theme colors and fonts are applied to all gtk, qt, kde and X
applications. Download here.
Blackbox themes ported to fvwm2
Blackbox is a great window manager, that has a unique user
interface. I'm working on a Gimp-perl script for automatically
translating Blackbox themes to fvwm2. The script parses a
Blackbox setup file and generates some pixmaps, and an fvwm2
setup file that will mimic the Blackbox theme as much as
possible. Have a look at a preliminary result here:
Note that in the script I included an extra option 'BeOSButtons',
which produces BeOS-like window buttons, instead of the Blackbox
window buttons. I'm currently de-spaghettifying the script, I'll
put it here soon.
Vector buttons
Fvwm supports 'vector buttons'. This is a type of window
buttons that is draw on the fly, according to a set of commands
in the fvwm(2)rc file. Designing a vector button just using
these commands, is rather cumbersome. That's why I made a perl
script, which translates encapsulated postscript files to
fvwm vector button commands. Using this script, you can desing
your vector buttons in xfig, save as eps, and then the scrip
generates the buttons. For more information, see the script:
eps2vector.pl.
Ctwm
Ctwm is another window manager, which has the nice feature of
squeezable titles. I have a theme based on the Be operating system
for this windomanager.
