Bookmarklets

Bookmarklets are quick helpers for web pages. They are implemented as small snippets of javascript, contained in the href attribute of a html link element. A bookmarklet works in the context of a html page, which means that they need to be invoked from your bookmark menu or bookmark panel. To add a bookmarklet to your browser, simply select the link and add as bookmark, or drag it to your bookmark panel.

Learn more about bookmarklets and how to use them at Jesse's Bookmarklets Page. The bookmarklets below are primarily for my own use with Mozilla/Firefox and sometimes Safari, other browsers may work as well. YMMV!

Page Location

Page Location - appends the document's location (full URL) at the bottom of the document. Useful when you want to have this information on a printed version and the URL is not printed in some other way.
Alternate version, adds Page Title and Date as well as Page URL: Page Location Plus By Steven Merley

Password generator bookmarklet

Password Composer, inspired by Nick Wolff, generates unique password per site, based on a md5 hash of your single master password and the site's host name. Be sure to read the Password Composer FAQ!

Zap Annoying Media

Remove annoying Flash animations and iframes from current web page (those obnoxiously distracting banner ads). I consider this a very "friendly" method for killing ads, as you have a chance to see the ad and click if you're really interested, otherwise kill the bastard only after the page view has been generated (and thus the revenue for the originating site has been generated as well in many advertising models).

Max. textareas

Max textareas modified version of enlarge textarea, which tries to set the width and height of all text areas slightly smaller than the current viewport size. The result is that you have a "full screen" text area.
This version is for MSIE: Max textareas (MSIE).

List Found Links This bookmarklet lists links as plain text in a new window. The links can be selected by any substring contained in the URL.

See: Annotate Links greasemonkey user script for a more elegant solution for Firefox with Greasemonkey.

Annotate Links This bookmarklet marks every fully qualified link on a page with a bracketed number [99] and appends a list of the corresponding link URLs at the bottom of the page. Great for printed versions of a web page if you want to find out what's behind a link named like this afterwards! Note: only links starting with http, mailto or ftp are used.

Color links

Color Links based on the href attribute.

Wayback Links redirects all fully qualified links to the Wayback machine of the Web Archive.

Form POST

frmpost The counterpart of frmget.

Google Cache
