MacWorld Print Cleanup
macworldprint.user.js - install as Greasemonkey User Script.
Just the other day, I found out about an interesting weblog entry on MacWorld, that I wanted to print for reading during my daily commute (Close-up on Aperture). Now this page is really bloated with navigation, headers, and a big, fat ad box and all. So I whipped up a "print style" user script for Greasemonkey.
This Greasemonkey User Script appends stylesheet rules for printed media, which make sure that only real content gets printed. Site navigation, headers and footers, and ads are suppressed.
This benefits not only regular pages, but also the special "printer friendly" versions (strangely, these contain bloated ads as well).
NOTE: in normal browsing mode, no change is visible in Firefox after installing the user script. Do a "print preview" or just make a print in order to see the differences.
Enjoy your printed pages, lean and mean!
