PHP Framework Symphony ====================== Wednesday 29 April 2009 00:37 Some job requires PHP Framework Symphony skills, so I might check that out. But it always amazes me how immature the PHP community is. At a Glance, there are 3 different stable versions of the framework, and their definition of stable is that it's supported for only 1 year. Looks like the Symphony framework is some hobby project from someone planning to move on to Ruby, Python or a proper job in three years? Why would anyone choose to use a framework that fails to provide medium to long term commitment to investments in a serious codebase? Or do they know those rapid PHP prototypes usually get rewritten in Ruby or Python well within those three years, or is PHP itself not really stable enough to build frameworks on that have a reasonable time to live? It's symfony, not symphony, by the way. I'm feeling skilled already... by Roland van Ipenburg http://www.xs4all.nl/~ipenburg/blog/posts/work/2009/04/29/php-framework-symphony/
