Seismic wave behavior in discontinuous rock masses

The research project Seismic wave behavior around discontinuities concerns the determination of discontinuity properties in a rock mass by seismic waves. The velocity, frequency and absorption of a seismic wave in a rock mass is influenced by the discontinuities. The properties of discontinuities have a considerable influence on the properties of the seismic wave.

The research is done in in co-operation with the Section Technical Geophysics and the Section Engineering Geology of the Technical University Delft in the context of the Research school "Centre for Technical Geosciences".
