The Traditional Chinese Lion Dance!

(The video clip can now be downloaded, see bottom)

Traditionally the Chinese Lion Dance is supposed to bring
good luck and long life; and the better the performance,
      the
more luck! It is mostly performed at openings of stores
      or
Chinese restaurants, but also at traditional (Chinese)
weddings or to bless a new house or baby!

We really wanted that Lion Dance and found these guys on
Internet: Lion Dance Team   There is a lot of information
on these pages, but for us it all started at: The Cultural
Historical Chinese Project pages.   Here we found all info
to make our wedding extra special: we chose a mixture of
Traditional Chinese for Joy and Traditional European for
me. The Cultural Historical Chinese Project pages also has
      information & pictures on the Traditional Lion Dance ;
that is how I first learned about it!

And so, September 15th., in a quiet residential area... :-)

I think this was the greeting of the bridal pair...

The Chinese musicians, Roger Chan on the drum.

      More Lion Dancing...

All the kids especially loved the Lion Dance!

By now half the neighbourhood had joined us!

It is really a magnificent Lion...

      ... and acrobatic too!

Here is a video clip from a small part of this spectacular
performance, but the filesize is > 7 MB.
