Meet my grandparents! Once you found an ancestor please take the challenge to click through this 'Dutch Connection' maze from your ancestor to one of my grandparents. Somehow, all people in the database are related. The new Kinship View might help you. So, how many clicks does it take you? Please let me know. Have fun!
Tip: all 403 direct ancestors of mine have a tomato coloured page just like this sentence

Please let me know in case you would like to contribute to 'The Dutch Connection'; data or pictures.

Want more fun? Pimp up your family tree, try to calculate the percentage of genes that we have in common or visit my homepage if you're interested in the history of Barger-Compascuum, Hebelermeer. (mainly Dutch)

03-04-2012: I'm checking 'The Dutch Connection' according to the Wesuwe church records. Surnames starting with an A are updated allready.

Pauline Berens Dutch Connection Genealogy the Kinship View

The Kinship View is an addition to the Rootsweb views: Descendancy, Register, Pedigree and Ahnentafel.

The Kinship View shows an individual, who is the genealogical starting point. His/her name is shown in a white cell and other cells contain her/his deceased relatives. Degrees of kinship, percentage of genes shared and type of relationship are given. The lighter the colour of a cell the higher percentage of genes the persons shown have in common with their ancestor in the white cell.

The number of known children is shown between parentheses. Usually this number corresponds with the number of names shown in a related cell in a lower row. When the child is still alive or from another relationship the numbers can vary. People sharing the same F(amily)-number are siblings.

Names of people belonging to the generations 'children' or 'grandchildren' of the person in the white cell are shown only if they and the parent related to the person in the white cell are deceased.Because of privacy reasons, only F(amily)-number and number of children are shown of living people. Names are shown as well if year of birth is before 1911 and there's no information on date of death. Please let me know if this is the case and you know somebody is alive.

In a few cases two partners have a different number of children. This is explained by the fact that one or both parent(s) have children from more than one relationship.

The names link to an individual's record in 'The Dutch Connection', the Pauline Berens Rootsweb genealogy database.

There's at least one problem left: how to deal with decendants of parents' half siblings? They are not mentioned in the Kinship View yet, but in fact I guess they should, because the person in the white cell might share even more genes with these people in lighter cells than he/she does with people in darker cells... Any suggestions? Example Kinship Views:
