The Patriot, an independent film, completed principle photography in the Fall of 1997. Mr. Seagal plays Dr. Wesley McClaren in this film loosely based on the book "The Last Canadian'' by William C. Heine. The Plot? A biochemical weapon is released in Montana forcing a quarantine of the town of Ennis. It is up to Seagal to save everyone. It was stated "Steven is perfect for this role, portraying someone who learns how to survive and be resourceful." This film is a drama and marks Steven's first step away from the action film genre.
