Beyond recognition
"Are you ready?
"Errmm... What? Ready for what?"
"We are going to T&T this evening, aren't we?"
Wow, I completely forgot! Julia was right of course: It was the first Saturday of the month, so it was time for another T&T-meeting in community center "De Rondweg" in Eindhoven. Of course I had to go. I know there are people who travel all over the country, to attend a T&T-meeting every week in another city. But my situation is different of course: Many people go to these evenings, because it is their only opportunity to present themselves as a woman. For me that is normal routine.
But let's be honest: In the past I have found a lot of support on these evenings and now a whole new generation of people is carefully taking the first steps on the transgender road. It is now my turn to give support to others.
I spoke with Paulien (secretary of the LKG TenT) tonight and she looks at it the same way. We were chatting at the bar and while we were doing that we were able to give tips to several people around us.
I also met my friend M. again. Ever since they have discovered at the VU that she is an intersexual, her treatment has been a lot different than that of most of the other clients of the Gender Team. And that is not without reason: Her situation is a lot different. She will not have to wait very long for her operation. Also the HRT has a very quick and effective impact on her. Already she has a pair of breasts many natural women would be envious about.
And I met someone else who is in a very successful transition process. A beautiful young lady. At first I did not even realise she was a transsexual too. :) Well she was! As a matter of fact I have worked with her behind the bar only a year ago. I had not recognised her. Wonderful!
