Tom Vater was born and grew up in Germany. He moved to the UK when he was 18 and studied at Oxford University. He is an author and freelance journalist based in Bangkok, Thailand. He is the co-owner of Crime Wave Press, a Hong Kong based English language crime fiction imprint. He also writes non-fiction and travel guides. He is the creator of 'Detective Maier', a private detective based in Hamburg, Germany who solves crimes involving Germans who have gotten into trouble in Asia. Visit also this site.
