Robert Lloyd Fish was born in Ohio. He studied mechanical engineering at Case University. His first short story appeared in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. He died in Connecticut. Fish also wrote under the pseudonym 'Robert L. Pike'. He is the creator of:
1. 'Jose da Silva', police captain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
2. 'Kek Huuygens', a smuggler in Europe.
3. 'Schlock Homes', a parody on Sherlock Holmes.
4. 'Carruthers, Simpson and Briggs', mystery writers.
5. 'Clancy', a lieutenant of the New York Police Department (as 'Robert L. Pike').
6. 'Jim Reardon', a cop in San Francisco, California (as 'Robert L. Pike').
