Len Deighton
1929-
 

Lenonard Cyril Deighton was born in London. He was educated at Marylebone Grammar School. At the age of seventeen, he was conscripted into the RAF. Following his National Service, he studied at St. Martin's School of Art and The Royal College of Art. After graduating in 1955, he joined BOAC as an air steward, then left to pursue a career as designer and illustrator. Deighton worked on all kinds of advertising and publicity material in London and New York, did drawings for several magazines and illustrated book-jackets for various publishers.
