What a delight it was to come across
your web site!!! Allow me to congratulate you on the excellent work done, in
every respect. Of course the quality of your digital camera that you speak so highly, helps but as an old time fan of photography, (58 years old Greek national) I could discern the expert touch of the photographer in framing, angle, lighting etc. (Thumbs up!!). In the last 5 years I have made 7 trips in SE Asia including China and Vietnam and let me just say that you would be thrilled of the photo opportunities of these last two countries. I hope you will get there soon. Browsing all your pictures made re-live my travels there and have complemented them in both the locations that I had already been and the ones that I hadn't.
Winner January 2006: Virachai Vannukuli, Thailand
Your website is unique and photos are impressive. I believe this is the only website of photos of Thailand. Congratulations.

Hi Deva,
I found your digital photo hints very useful. After reading your tips about which camera to buy I decided to buy the same camera as you and I am very happy with it, it is really a great camera! As a beginner I could also use your information about how to take great photos. This section brought me a lot of good ideas and I am happy that my pictures are better now. I had no idea that you can do so much to improve your pictures, it looks like this digital techniques opens a complete new world for me. There are so many programs and to get some help to choose from them has been very useful, especially as you showed that the more expensive software is not always the best. I like Irfanview and it is for free!
So Deva thanks you very much for your advice and hints.

Dear Deva, I was looking for pictures of Thailand, and I found your website. I like it a lot because in July 2004 I was in Thailand. And ever since I’m homesick for Thailand. Thailand has captured my heart. I can’t stop thinking of Thailand and most of all I have the need of living there.
The funny part is we went with 3 persons and we all did not bring our camera, because we were planning to buy one in Thailand. However we were to busy with our trip that we never got a chance of looking for a camera. Just in the last couple of days I finally bought a camera, but then our vacation was almost over.
So you see that’s why I’m happy with you’re website, because we went to a lot of those places which you took pictures of. And it gives me the feeling that I had my camera with me the whole vacation. It makes me feel closer to Thailand and gives me the feeling of going back to Thailand next year, which I will do! Keep up the good work. Love Lilian

I am really impressed by your website. I love the way I can see your pictures, it is like a slideshow with interesting comments. You have the knack of telling ‘little stories’ with your beautiful pictures; it is like you describe more or less a virtual journey through Thailand.
When I came at your virtual movies of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar I was stunned. What a great way of showing panoramic pictures. You cross the threshold here between pictures and movies. Especially the pictures of Bagan in Myanmar are great. Are you planning to make more of these virtual reality movies? I hope so.
Dear Deva thank you very much for this opportunity you give me to ‘travel’ with you. - - - - - - - - - - - Answer Deva: During my next three months trip to Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and perhaps Laos I plan to make much more of these nice panoramas, because I love it too!

I love your images of the wildlife and especially the lotus pictures. You have a great sense of capturing beauty and making the viewer feel part of your journey. It is a great service you have provided to the world.
Winner January 2004: Doua Yang, Madison USA
Your website really impressed me after looking at it.
I'm from Thailand. I came to this country when I was 10 years old, because the Thai Government closed the camp where I was.
I want to let you know that I love your website.
Thailand is a great place to be. I didn't want to move, but I had too. Thailand is very beautiful, great weather, the ceremonies, New Year, concerts and many holidays that happened there, which I really enjoyed. I was just there last year for a visit. I felt sad when I got there. I saw a lot of pretty things and it made me not want to go back.
Your images are a fine example about what is possible with a good digital camera, combined with talent.
To those who have not yet been to Thailand, please go and take a vacation there.
THANK YOU DEVA. For your time and for giving me great memories.
Winner November 2003: Robert Williamsons, Toronto Canada
Searching with Google for high quality pictures, photos of nature and people I came on your website Pictures of Thailand. First I was a little surprised, because there are so many other websites with pictures of nature and people and this was about Thailand!
But when I started looking into your website I found many great photos of nature. Especially I loved the photos of the beautiful sunsets, butterflies and many flowers (e.g. lotus). Also I liked your photos of people very much, you have some great pictures of Thai girls and women. These dancing women are amazingly beautiful. Because you didn’t use a flash you were able to catch the original atmosphere. Also I liked the lovely photos of children and many fine photos of Buddhist monks. They all look so bubbling with joy.
I also have read your page about digital photography and your pictures have made the advantage of this very clear. Your images are a fine example about what is possible with a good digital camera, combined with talent. So I will also buy one for my next holiday to…. Thailand. I was not thinking about that, but when I saw all your pictures of Thailand I decided to escape the cold winter of Canada to what looks like a travelers paradise.
Deva, thank you very much for this ‘fiesta’ for the eyes and the idea to go for a holiday to Thailand.
Winner October 2003: Andrea Bernardi, Italy
Thailand is a lovely country and it has so much to offer for everyone. It is a country we're you can do everything you always wanted. Trekking in the North, culture almost everywhere. Adventure, diving and leisure in the South. The people are very friendly and always trying to help you, what you'll almost never find elsewhere. They have a wonderful cuisine and a fantastic wildlife. Surfing through this site gives me a feeling of tranquility that is Thailand. All the pictures are really beautiful. My urge to visit Thailand again rises with each picture I see before my eyes. It has an abundance of pictures from all over Thailand. I love the way you capture the different people, landscapes and attractions, it reminds me when I was there. Congratulations to the photographer, with his keen eyes in capturing the magnificent places from Thailand. By looking at these photographs, it makes me want to quit my job and travel Thailand all over again. And again, congratulations to this wonderful website and I will recommend this site to everybody who has been in Thailand and to those, who have never been there. Thank you very much for sharing your experience with me on your website.
Winner September 2003: Gary and Sue McGinty, Cairns, Australia
We have had the privilege of visiting the wonderful country of Thailand on a few occasions. The reason we go back is depicted in your wonderful photos of the people, all whom we have met being friendly and smiling. There is a diversity of culture from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, with the night markets, eateries and hotels to cater for any budget, to the beautiful Andaman Sea and Gulf of Siam resorts and markets. The hilly north where Chiang Mai is located - the balmy nights and slower pace and a gateway to the Hill Tribe people is a cultural experience not to be missed. A long, rather steep visit to Doi Suthep is worth it for the view over the City from the richly ornate Temple grounds. The various Hill Tribes add more to the richness of the diverse culture that is Thailand.
To take a boat ride to the old capital of Ayuthaya and back through the provinces to Bangkok by bus was fantastic. To visit the River Kwai, and take the train along the famous track, eat a delicious buffet lunch at one of the stops, visit the Kanchanburi War Cemetery where many Australian soldiers are buried brings about a reflection of Australia’s part in the history of the place.
A ride on an elephant is a must and your photos bought back wonderful memories of our time there. A two hour trek through the jungle at the Mae Sa Elephant Camp was great and to see these beautiful creatures work and play was enjoyed by our whole family last year.
The speed boat trip to the islands, viewing the coral atolls, the diversity of cultures in Phang Nga, the fascinating limestone islands, including James Bond Island is so picturesque and even for us amateur photographers, we have some great images to look back on and recall the special times there. The rubber plantations on the way added another dimension to the way the people use all the resources available to them and although most are not well off, the “land of smiles” is so apt. Phi Phi Island, the idyllic tropical setting with the lagoons, rocky outcrops which hang precariously over the sandy beaches, all make it a delight for any photographer. Part of the enjoyment of going to Phi Phi is the stops along the way for snorkeling and the amazing fish, so colorful and very friendly as they nibble your legs and cause the water to “bubble” with their movement is just magic.
We are planning to visit the North Eastern part of Thailand next year, which will no doubt offer some more interesting and different aspects of this fascinating country.
Thank you for your great site - it will be a favorite for us to visit regularly

... Never been in Thailand before, even in Asia. I'm living in Belgium, one of the smallest countries in the world. My life is conducted by the time and that "time" has given me worst sensations with an impact to my health, relations and spirit.
We have decided, my wife and me, to go to Thailand. We have made a trip around the central part and the north of this country. As soon as we arrived there, our eyes worked like a camera always taking shots of color, smiles, daily life of the people...
Thailand is a land where it seems that you may merge into another world and you will go back to your country with plenty of pictures in your eyes.
Sawadee is a lovely word, especially when the two hands, joined together, conduct it. The "Wats" forces you to think differently and respects those people, which offer their presents at the temples. We have changed a little bit.
Deva on your an Internet site, I found back exactly what I saw, what I smelled, what I'm dreaming about now and for that, I thank you much more that you may expect!
When I 'm talking about my trip to Thailand I'm trying also to give your URL address because your pictures are the most representative of what the people can see in that country.
Thank you for all and more for the work you have done!
Winner July 2003: Christine Tiemann, USA
I was happy to see your pictures of girls in Thailand. These photos of Thai girls are so beautiful. You managed to take the photos of these girls in such a fine way, that you enhanced their qualities of grace and beauty. I loved especially the pictures you took of the Thai girls dancing.
It is a pity that so many Thai girls are degraded to sex objects, also on many websites, and it is great to see that a website with non nude pictures of girls in Thailand ranks that high.
The greatness of Thailand is that the feminine energy is integrated so much in daily life as you see in Thai women running many restaurants, hotels and shops, Sitting in a restaurant and getting your great food on a beautiful plate served in a gracious way by Thai women, what more you want. This in a big contrast to India, were I have been several times and almost everything is done by men, resulting in a lot of ugliness, dirt and food poisoning.
So Deva thank you for these fine Thai girls pictures

When I was looking for images of southern Thailand on the internet I came across the 'Pictures of Thailand' by Deva Deep; now I find myself looking at this site several times a week. I found that Deva Deep had photographed the places I had been to and this brought back very happy memories for me. The photographs are taken in a very natural way and give a very good indication of what each place is like. Some of the places featured I haven't been to yet but now that I have seen them in the 'Pictures of Thailand' web site I would now like to visit them next time I go to Thailand. I have been to Thailand two times in the past two years and I now feel that I would like to visit every year; I have simply fallen in love with the place and its people. In the meantime I will visit Deva's web site and enjoy images of the place I love. Deva has photographed Thailand in a way that suggests his love for the place also; the design of this web site is done very simply and in a beautiful way; I now look forward to referring to it in the future so that I can see any new places that Deva has visited. I love the East....but Thailand is my choice of the best place to go to as is Deva's 'Pictures of Thailand...I have it on my computers 'Favorites' for easy access. Thank you Deva for enhancing my experience of Thailand.

What I like the most where the pictures of Ayuthaya. I really felt like traveling back in time to a complete other world. Amazing.
