2-3: © Ruud Altenburg, 26-03-05. Albardagracht, Amsterdam. Not an obvious long/thin-legged individual, but with the typical jizz and a mirror on the second generation P10. The latter is seen mainly in birds that as adults have a lot of white in the wingtip, such as cachinnans (and some nominate argentatus). Quite a few scapulars and all tertials and coverts are second generation-like in pattern; most 3cy cachinnans show at least some grey coverts. Dit individu heeft geen duidelijk lange/dunne poten, maar wel de typische jizz en een spiegel op P10. Dat laatste komt vooral voor in vogels die als adult veel wit in de vleugelpunt hebben, zoals cachinnans (en sommige nominaat argentatus). Nogal wat schouderveren en alle tertials en dekveren zijn tweede generatie-achtig; het merendeel van de 3kj cachinnans toont in ieder geval enkele grijze dekveren.

Signs of immaturity are the bill colouration, the hint of brownish in the wing coverts and the absence of a long white tong on P10. In flight, it showed dark brown primaries coverts. Waarschijnlijk dezelfde vogel keerde een jaar later terug als 4kj. Tekenen van onvolwassenheid zijn de snavelkleur, de bruinige waas in de dekveren en de afwezigheid van een lange witte tong op P10. In vlucht waren donkerbruine handdekveren te zien.

9-11: © Ruud Altenburg, 11-02-07. Albardagracht, Amsterdam. The next year, this bird (now a 5cy) again returned to the same location. Interestingly, it was displaying to a female Herring Gull. As they flew off together, the two seemed to have formed a pair! Het jaar erop bleek de vogel (nu een 5kj) opnieuw teruggekeerd naar dezelfde plek. Interessant was dat de vogel baltste met een vrouwtje Zilvermeeuw. Aangezien ze samen wegvlogen leken de twee een paar gevormd te hebben!
