The New Year's lion dance procession in the Chinatown of Amsterdam started in the morning of January 2, 2001 at the F.G.S. He Hwa temple around 10:00 with some firework donated by de Vierde Dimensie. The long journey was made under fairly good weather conditions. Some shelters came in handy when a small amount of rain dropt out of the sky. The lion dances were completed early in the evening around 19:45. Some shops/restaurants offered the lion dancers some food and beverages, while others welcomed the lion itself with great offerings.
The day was completed with a joint dinner at Restaurant Hoi Tin at the Zeedijk. During this dinner some presents, donated by various shops, were given to the lion dancers via a lucky draw.

A special contribution to the CNCWS photo-album of the 2001 lion dance and new year's celebration was received from Mr. Tejima Katsuhiro from Tokyo, Japan. A selection of photographs made by Mr. Katsuhiro, when he visited Amsterdam, is displayed below.
Thank you very much Mr. Tejima Katsuhiro!
