Remainder Neptunus vs. Pirates game scheduled for July 28
Nederlands
NIEUWEGEIN (Neth.) - The league office of the Dutch Association has scheduled the to be replayed remainder of the game between Curaçao Neptunus and L&D Amsterdam Pirates for Tuesday, July 28. This comes two days after completion of the World Port Tournament Baseball in Rotterdam and two days before the season resumes with its next 3-game series.

On June 30, Neptunus and Amsterdam met in the second game of their 3-game series, which was moved ahead and was played on three consutive Tuesday-evenings. This to make room in early August, when Neptunus plays in the best-of-three final for the European Champions Cup against UnipolSai Bologna (Italy).

The game was won by Amsterdam with a 4-1 score, but Neptunus had filed a protest in the top of the fifth inning. That at bat ended when Nick Urbanus flied out. After completion of the at bat, Neptunus stated that Urbanus had batted with an illegal bat. The bat was then inspected by the 3-man umpire crew, who allowed the bat to remain in the game, which gave the impression that the bat wasn't illegal. From that moment on, Neptunus played the remainder of the game under protest.

The protest was handled by the Protest Committee, who awarded the protest to Neptunus, based on Rule 6.06 b-2. That Rule states that in case a player bats with an illegal bat and when confirmed by the umpires, he has to be called out and ejected from the game.

With the awarding of the protest, the game was declared invalid from the bottom of the fifth inning on.

The game will resume with no outs in the bottom of the fifth with an 1-1 score, while Urbanus will be ejected for using an illegal bat. The pitchers-of-record at that moment were Kenny Van Den Branden (Neptunus) and Rob Cordemans (Amsterdam).

The remainder will be played on Tuesday-evening, July 28, in Rotterdam, starting at 7:30 PM.
