Venues/pools announced for WBC Qualifiers

NEW YORK, New York (USA) -
Major League Baseball on Thursday announced the venues and pools for the new Qualifiers for the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
The winners of each pool wil qualify for the prestigious tournament to be held in March 2013.
The four venues that have been selected to host a Qualifying Tournament are:
- Armin-Wolf-Baseball-Arena in Regensburg (Germany)
- Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City (Panama)
- XinZuang Stadium in Taipei (Taiwan)
- Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida (USA)
The pool-alignments are as follows:
Participating in the tournament in Germany, which will be held September 20-24, are Canada,
Czech Republic, Germany and Great Britain.
In Qualifier 2 in Florida, the participants are France, Israel, South Africa and Spain.
The dates for this tournament have yet to be determined.
In Qualifier 3 in Taiwan, New Zealand, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand
will play on dates to be announced.
In Qualifier 4 in Panama, the participating countries are Brazil, Colombia, Nicaragua and Panama.
The tournaments will have a six-game double elimination format.
The schedules will be announced at a later date.
Already qualified for the 2013 World Baseball Classic, based on their performances of the 2009 edition, are Australia, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, USA and Venezuela.
