Caspian Gull L. cachinnans

Two different 1st winters, both photographed on 24 March 2001 near Wijster in the Netherlands. Note on both birds the typical CG-features: long wings and legs, small head with long parallel bill. white face with small dark eye, speckled 'shawl'. pale-grey scapulars, pale tips to the greater wingcoverts and dark-brown tertials. The bill on both birds shows a pinkish-green base and a dark tip.

The second bird, with more speckled 'shawl' and underparts but still a white head.
