Caspian Gull Larus cachinnans

This first-winter Caspian Gull was photographed near Wijster in the Netherlands on 19 January 2002. This bird shows rather dark-brown wingcoverts and very grey scapulars (the lower ones with almost no marking at all). Although the underwingcoverts are quite pale the underwing does have a dark look indeed. In every other respect it is a classic CG.
