Caspian Gull Larus cachinnans

These two 2nd winter Caspian Gulls were photographed on a rubbish tip near Bochum, Germany on 9 January 2002. The first one is typical in all respect but note that it has a rather pale iris. The second one appears below and is a more compact bird.
