The coastal beauty of South Australia is considered by many to be one of the natural wonders of the world. On this adventure, the discerning traveller has the opportunity to discover some of natures best kept secrets as well as coming into contact with the habitats of seals, dolphins, kangaroos and koalas. On the first day, this adventure takes the traveller to Streaky Bay, known amongst the local population for the Bay, its fishing and, naturally its seafood. But there is a very special treat in store here. A few kilometers from Streaky Bay is a place called Baird Bay. This magical spot is the home to the Australian Sea Lions and Bottlenose Dolphins. The Banksia Adventurers will join a small, private charter boat and will travel out to the inlet of the Bay. Now it's your turn to enter the aquatic world of Sea Lions and |

Dolphins and swim with them. The inquisitive creatures', sharing their world with you, is one of the truly awesome natural wonders of the world. That night you can talk about your adventures while having dinner with the locals at Streaky Bay. In the morning, you leave Streaky Bay and fly along some of the most spectacular coastline that Australia has to offer. Bring your cameras for the breath-taking beauty of the rich, blue sea meeting the cliffs along the West Coast of Eyre Peninsula. The flight lands at Port Lincoln, home to the great tuna fishing industry. The rich seas surrounding Port Lincoln produce some of the best oysters (the Coffin Bay oysters are superb!), abalone and deep-sea fishing. |
|
The landscape around Port Lincoln ranges from vineyards and farmland to rugged wilderness and sand dunes. Two days will be spent here exploring this natural richness by escorted 4 wheel drive and, weather permitting, charted sea touring to tuna farms and maybe even some deep-sea fishing. The morning of the fourth day says
farewell to the mainland as the Banksia Adventures flight
takes the group to the world-famous Kangaroo Island. The
next two days are spent exploring the natural wilderness of
the island and visiting the habitats of koalas, kangaroos
and the famous seal colonies. You might even be lucky enough
to catch a glimpse of the rare Glossy Black Cockatoo. |
