Johanna Guschelbauer changed her name to Johanna Elbauer at the start of career because her original name was often misunderstood or misspelled. She debuted in 1970 next to Heinz Rühmann in Harry Meyen's "Endspurt". During the 1970s and the 1980s she appeared in movies as well as television productions like "Derrick" and "Tatort". In 1980 she was in István Szabó's "Der grüne Vogel" and in 1989 she was in Karin Brandauer's "Ascheputtel". She had her last part in "Die vier Gerechten" (2002) under the direction of Wolfgang Henschel. She died in 2015 in Berlin.
