Ernesto Bazzaro was the younger brother of the painter Leonardo Bazzaro. He was educated at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts where Antonio Borghi and Giuseppe Grandi were his teachers. In 1881 he won the Luigi Canonica competition with his sculpture "Sordello da Goito". He created a marble statue of Garibaldi that was the original for the statue in Monza and also a statue of Delice Cavallotti in Milan. From 1905 to 1908 he was a member of the City Council of Milan. His forst solo exhibition took place in 1917 at the Galleria Centrale d'Arte in Milan. He created many monuments for the Cimitero Monumentale in Milan and for the cemetery of Pallanza. Costante Coter and Paolo Troubetzkoy were his students. He died in Milan in 1937. |
