Achille Casanova directed the Aemilia Arts atelier in Bologna. He was also a teacher at the Venturoli Art College. Apart from painting he was also a skilled decorator. He worked in the chuch of San Francesco and created frescos for the Chirch of San Antonio in Padua in 1910. Together with Alfonso Rubbiani he designed the room of the Emilian artists for the Seventh Biennale of Venice.

He married Maria Luisa Betti (1865-1929). He was buried with her at the Certosa cemetery in Bologna.
