Emma Moyse married the banker Sigismond Bardac when she was seventeen years old. They had two children. Her daughter Helen was known as Madame Gaston de Tinan. Emma started an affair with Gabriel Fauré, who whote his "bonne chanson" for her. He also wrote "Dolly Suite" for Helene. In 1903 she met Claude Debussy and in 1904 they went on a secret holiday in Jersey. Debussy wanted to divorce his wife Rosalie, who tried to commit suicide with a revolver at the Place Concorde after she received his letter. Although she shot herself in her breast she lived until 1934. Emma and Debussy went to England and from there they settled their divorces. They returned to Paris shortly before their daughter Claude-Emma was born on 30 Aug 1905. In 1908 they married. The marriage was difficult and ended with Debussy's death in 1918. Claude-Emma died in 1919 of diphteria. Emma died in 1934 and both Claude-Emma and Emma were buried with Debussy.
